“Rajasthan looking at partnerships in growth and development” – Chief Minister

Jaipur, 27 October. The Chief Minister, Smt. Vasundhara Raje, has said that the state government sees the companies which invest in Rajasthan as partners in growth and development.

Smt. Raje was addressing the gathering at the inauguration of World Glass Complex being set-up by French multi-national Saint Gobain which involves investment worth Rs 1000 crore at Bhiwadi, Alwar District,. She pointed out that France and Rajasthan were already partners in tourism since the largest number of European tourists visiting the state were from France. She remarked that setting up of the Glass Complex by the French gaint was a matter of pride for the industrial sector in Rajasthan.

Applauding Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, the Chief Minister commented that ‘working together, industry and government can fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream of the country being a manufacturing giant and in the process, further employment opportunities and economic growth’.
Expressing her happiness on the start of Glass Complex, Smt. Raje pointed out Saint Gobain’s involvement in skill development and expanded on Rajasthan’s efforts in increasing employability of youth through the State’s Skill Development Programme. The Chief Minister, Raje, said that she recollected the ceremony of signing of MoU in the year 2008 and was happy to see a dream come to fruition.

The Chief Minister spoke briefly on the various opportunities of investment that Rajasthan offered including the areas of mineral wealth, electronics and non-conventional energy.

Addressing the function, Ambassador of France to India Mon. Francois Richier said that the French companies will endeavor to do more in India and strengthen relationship between the two countries. Vision and leadership of the CM, Smt. Raje helped in completing this project, he said.

Chairman and CEO of Saint-Gobain Mon. Pierre-Andre de Chalendar said that despite global recession during the previous few years, his company remained determined to complete the project of establishing Asia’s biggest float glass complex. He appreciated the enthusiastic support and clear directives of the state government in this regard and stated that his company invested $ 700 million in India.

President and MD Saint-Gobain India Ltd. Shri B. Santhanam welcomed the CM and other dignitaries. State Minister for Food & Civil Supplies, Shri Hem Singh Bhadana, Member of Parliament, Mahant Chandnath, MLAs Dr. Jaswant Yadav, Shri Ramhet Yadav, Shri Maman Singh, Shri Jairam Jatav, Shri Banwari Lal Singhal, Shri Gyandev Ahuja, Principal Secretary Industries Smt. Veenu Gupta, General delegate of Saint Gobain for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Shri Anand Y. Mahajan and other officials of State Government were present on this occasion.
