Jaipur to have Tribal Arts Museum soon

Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that a Tribal Arts Museum would be established in Jaipur very soon. Also, railway stations at all divisional headquarters of the state would be decorated with paintings based on tribal and other arts of Rajasthan.

Smt. Raje was talking on the occasion of release of book ‘Contemporary Expressions: Art of the Jogi Family’ at Diggi Palace during Jaipur Literature Festival on Thursday. Smt. Tulika Kedia has curated this book, based on tribal arts, published by Academic Foundation.

The CM said that some months ago decoration of Jaipur as an Open Art Gallery by display of Jogi tribal paintings accross the city received much applauds. She said that paintings by Gonds, Bheels or Jogis are best examples of tribal art works and the state government has decided to promote these arts across the globe.

Smt. Raje said that paintings of tigers and other wildlife had been displayed at Sawai Madhopur Railway Station. On similar lines, it has been planned to decorate Bharatpur railway station with pictures of birds. Also, paintings would be displayed at other railways stations in the state, including three in Jaipur city.

After release of book, the CM saw various displays based on Jogi art and praised the artworks. Member of the Chief Minister Advisory Council Smt. Malvika Singh was also present on this occasion.

Smt. Raje also attended a book reading session ‘Vicereine’ in Durbar Hall of Diggi Palace. The book based on memories of wife of Lord Minto, the then Viceroy of British Empire, titled as ‘Vicereine’ was discussed in this session. Writer Anabel Loyd and descendant of Lord Minto Shri Timothy Elloit participated in the book discussion.
