Malaysian PM Praises CM Smt. Vasundhara Raje for Economic Reforms

Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Shri Mohammad Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak has said that Rajasthan is recognized as a robust economy on the world map. Taking a cue from the high growth of the state of 12.38% during 2015-16, he said that this could be possible due to economic reforms agenda initiated by Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje. Following these reforms, he added, Rajasthan emerged as a business-friendly state amid global economic uncertainty.

Shri Abdul Razak was addressing a high-level meeting at SMS Convention Centre in Jaipur on Sunday in regard to investment by Malaysian companies. He called Rajasthan a natural ally of Malaysia and said that it was a land of opportunities. He said that investors from his country were interested in tourism and other sectors. Malaysian firms had expertise in construction, roads and highways and infrastructure development, he said.

Chief Minister Smt. Raje said that Rajasthan was progressing fast on growth trajectory. She invited the Malaysian companies for investment in infrastructure, tourism, water management, urban housing, transport, health services and other sectors. She said that this visit of PM Shri Abdul Razak would be a great opportunity for partnership of Rajasthan and Malaysia in trade and development. She noted that Malaysia was already a partner with the state for highways and road development sectors.

In her welcome address to the delegation, the CM highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visit to Malaysia in year 2015 and said that it was beginning of a new era of economic partnership between two countries. Malaysian PM’s present tour was next step in that direction.

She said that Rajasthan wanted to have special partnership with Malaysia in infrastructure development, construction, transportation and tourism sectors as Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) of Malaysia expressed willingness to have investment in these areas.

Smt. Raje further discussed the opportunities of investment from the Malaysian investors for connecting Kuala Lumpur with Jaipur with a direct flight, development of the state as a medical hub, improvement of health services, support for affordable house construction under the Mukhyamantri Jan Aawas Yojana, improvement of urban infrastructure and other sectors. During the meeting, additional chief secretaries of Public Works Department, Urban Development and Tourism gave presentations.

PM Shri Abdul Razak’s wife Datin’ Smt. Rosmah Mansor, Minister of International Trade and Industry Shri Mustapa Bin Mohamed, Minister of Health Dr. S. Subramaniam, Minister of Works Shri Fadillah Bin Yusof, Malaysian Special Envoy to India and South Asia on Infrastructure Shri U.S. Samy Vellu, Malaysian High Commissioner to India Shri Hidayat Abdul Hamid, other diplomats and representatives of major investor firms were part of this delegation.

Meeting was also attended by Public Works and Transport Minister Shri Yunus Khan, Urban Development Minister Shri Srichand Kriplani, Industries Minister Shri Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Tourism Smt. Krishanendra Kaur Deepa, Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia Shri TS Tirumurti, Chief Secretary Shri OP Meena, Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of various state government departments.
