Improve public distribution system by computerization
Jaipur, 15 January. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje said that for hassle-free service to general public, the Public Distribution System (PDS) needs to be strengthened through its computerization. She said that this would ensure facilitating the consumers get rations in time.
Smt. Raje said that the public interface of the state government was needed to be improved for the ‘common man’ to get the day-to-day affairs resolved easily. It was a must for good governance.
The Chief Minister was chairing the review meeting of the Food and Civil Supplies Department at CM Office on Wednesday. She asked the officials to study the best practices of the PDS in other states and update the improvised system accordingly.
She underlined the need of quick disposal of consumer grievances and suggested use of IT-services for effective and transparent functioning of the fair price shops after review of the PDS system.
In the 60-days action plan of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, targets like reconstitution of the State Council for Consumer Protection, review of the implementation of National Food Security Act, the State Commission for Consumer Protection, re-activation of about 1000 consumer clubs and strengthening of district consumer forums were set.
The Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Shri Hem Singh Bhadana, Chief Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Additional Chief Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Shri Ashok Shekhar, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Subhash Garg, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri Tapesh Panwar, Managing Director of Rajasthan State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Dr. Lalit Mehra and other officials were present in the meeting.
