Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that for peace and harmony to prevail in the state better coordination and unified approach was needed between the district administration and the police officials. Then only, the public would feel secure, she said. Focusing on the need of pro-active policy, she asked the officials to hold timely meetings with different communities and conduct regular field tours.

Smt. Raje was addressing the joint session of officials on the second day of the District Collectors-SPs Conference on Thursday at the CMO. She said that the government was making efforts to present Rajasthan as a role model for investment. For this to happen, maintenance of Law & Order was the top priority. Peace and harmony was imperative in view of the proposed Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit as well, she added.

The CM asked the administrative and police officers to hold joint tours and inspections in order and hold public meetings for disposal of petty disputes at the local level itself. She emphasized that it was must for the officials to hold night-halts in the field. She further stated that even if a person dropped in late for the public hearing, when the scheduled time was over, his or her grievance should be heard and well-addressed.

Smt. Raje asked the officials to prepare Disaster Management Plans for different districts and ensure preparedness for its implementation. She suggested for conducting regular mock-drills for disaster management as per the standard procedure in order to seek response time to deal with an eventuality. She said that the police officers had to be alert and responsive for maintenance of internal security as well.

The CM instructed the police officers to identify sensitive crime-prone spots and keep strict vigil at such places particularly at dhabas, hotels etc along the Highways to ensure control of crime. She asked them for effective curb on criminal activities like smuggling, illicit liquor, contraband drugs and illegal arms etc. The Superintendents of Police of the districts sharing borders with the neighbouring states should be in regular touch with the SP of concerned neighbouring district in regard to crime control, she said. The CM asked for special attention on security at religious places.

Smt. Raje instructed the police officials for strict action against all mafia and hardcore criminal gangs or exercise all possible control on illegal and unwarranted activities. She suggested the police officials to conduct survey of drug-addiction affected regions in the state and offer support in de-addiction drives.

In the conference, Inspector Generals of Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur Police Range and the Commissioners of Police of Jaipur and Jodhpur gave presentation on the Law & Order situation and efforts for control of crime in their respective regions. Principal Secretary Mines also gave a presentation on the Law & Order issues related to mining activities across the state.

The Collectors and SPs discussed various Law & Order related issues in their districts and gave suggestions. During this, Home Minister Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, all other members of the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary Shri CS Rajan, Director General of Police Shri Manoj Bhatt, other senior administrative and police officers were also present.
