Prepare a road map for planned and integrated development of rural areas
Jaipur, 04 January. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has directed the officials to prepare a road map for the planned and integrated development of rural areas. She asked the concerned departments to work in coordination keeping in view the five priorities set for the development of villages.
Smt. Raje was addressing the review meeting of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department here at Chief Minister’s office on Saturday. She said work plan for rural development should be prepared on five priorities including sanitation and toilet construction, road with drainage system, pure drinking water, energy and infrastructure facilities like school and medical facilities.
The Chief Minister saw the presentation regarding different schemes and programmes of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department and various targets set under the 60 days work plan and for the next five year plan. She discussed various issues in detail. She asked officials to take up work for the proper development of Mewat, Dang and Magra region so that people of these regions could get benefit.
Smt. Raje directed the officials to improve the quality of Mid-Day Meal. She said possibilities of taking help from women self-help groups and private organizations to cook mid-day meal should also be taken into considerations. She also laid emphasis on construction of assets of permanent nature with public participation, to resume the Nirmal Ghat scheme near ponds, preparation of work by identifying important tasks keeping in view local requirements in villages.
The Chief Minister reviewed various schemes and programmes underway and schemes from the future prospective related to Rural Development, Catchment Area Development, Mid-Day-Meal, Livelihood & Skill Development project and Panchayati Raj system. She also gave necessary directions to the officials regarding this.
During the presentation of Rural Development targets have been identified for 60 days action plan were like formation of 5000 new SHGs, skill training to 10,000 rural BPL youths with support of RSLDC under Livelihood programmes and sanction of 30,000 rural houses for houseless BPL families. Under five year action plan the department has identified targets such as formation and approval of village development plans in phased manner, priority to sanction of works as per approved village development plan, formation of 70,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs) and 3400 Village Organisations and arrangement of credit linkage facilities.
Similarly Panchayati Raj department has identified targets as construction of toilets in Aangan Wari Centres, 250 villages to be made open defecation free for 2013-14 under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, organization of training campaign for Sarpanchs and Ward Members, construction of 283 new Panchayat Bhawans, construction of kitchen sheds in 200 schools.
Under five year action plan the department has identified targets such as construction of kitchen sheds in remaining 29,000 schools, Commission to be set-up for the Re-Organization of Panchayat Samiti and Panchayats, preparation of village development plan of Panchayat Headquarter having population above 5000, internet connectivity in Gram Panchayats, 2000 Gram Panchayats to be made open defecation free, construction of toilets in 12,000 Aangan Wari Centres etc.
Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Additional Chief Secretary Infrastructure Shri C. S. Rajan, Principal Secretary Finance Subhash Garg, Principal Secretary Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Shri Shreemat Pandey and other official were present during the meeting.
