Bus services should be made people friendly
Jaipur, 3 February. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has asked to make bus services people friendly in the State. While reviewing the progress of the Transport Department and Rajasthan State Road Transport Services (RSRTC) here at Chief Minister’s office on Monday she also directed the officials regarding detail review of Rajasthan Gramin Parivahan Seva so that all the Gram Panchayats could be connected with bus services.
Smt. Raje also asked to strengthen the ‘Vehicle Tracking System’ and ‘Passenger Information System’ so that passengers can get accurate information about the movement of buses.
The Chief Minister said modernization of the bus stands should be taken up in a manner that while providing swift movement of the buses commercial activities could also be run on bus stands for the convenience of the passengers. Discussing the modernization of Sindhi Camp Bus Stand of Jaipur she directed the officials to find out the possibilities of developing mall, shopping center and hotel at Sindhi Camp.
During the meeting consideration was also made to give permission to run private buses on nationalized routes. Establishment of electronic weigh bridges at all the important border check-posts (Tax Collection Centres) in a joint venture with NHAI and PWD to check overloading was also discussed during the meeting.
Chief Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Chairman of RSRTC Shri C. K. Mathew, Principal Secretary Transport Shri Mukesh Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Subhash Garg, Secretary Planning Shri Akhil Arora, MD, Roadways Shri Bhaskar A. Sawant and other officials were present in the meeting.
