Prepare a database of Soil Health to increase agricultural production

Jaipur, 11 January. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has directed the officials of Agriculture Department to prepare the database of the Soil Health Card so that farmers could be given proper guidance to grow crop and use fertilizers according to the nature of soil in their region.

Smt. Raje was addressing the review meeting of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Department here at CMO on Saturday. She said Agriculture sector has abundant opportunities of development and efforts should be made to adopt innovations so that farmers can get benefit of the new techniques

The Chief Minister asked officials to ascertain that farmers get Soil Health Card after proper testing of the soil. Essential information regarding techniques of advanced farming which are useful for the farmers, she said. Smt. Raje also laid emphasis on development of tissue culture lab, increasing mobile soil testing labs, promoting extension farming and fisheries. She also said ornamental fishes are in demand in the country and abroad so it should be promoted.

Emphasis on Organic Farming: Smt. Raje said organic farming should be promoted in the State. She said farmers have successfully adopted organic farming at some places and they are yielding good crop. She also emphasized on farming of olives and date-palm.

Tulip & Lily Gardens to Be Developed: During the presentation of the Horticulture it was informed that Tulip & Lily Gardens will be developed in 40 hectare area near Behror on Jaipur-Delhi road. Floriculture Directorate will also be established and an olive park will be developed in Deorawas village of Tonk district.

Farmers to Get Meal in Rs. 5:

Under 60 day work plan of the State Government the farmers coming to Krishi Mandi will get healthy meal after paying token money of Rs.5. Farmers will also be supplied 4 lakh mini kits of fodder.

During the presentation it was informed that a separate ministry will be set-up for preservation and protection of cows. The Chief Minister also released the book titled “Development of Horticulture in Rajasthan” after the meeting.

Agriculture Minister Shri Prabhu Lal Saini, Chief Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, ACS Agriculture Shri Ashok Sampatram, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Subhash Garg, Principal Secretary UDH Shri D. B. Gupta and other senior officials of various department were present in the meeting.
