New State Highways Authority; Camel To Be State Animal

Jaipur, June 30. The State Government took several historical decisions in the meeting of the State Cabinet held in Bikaner which was chaired by Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje at the Rajasthan University of Veterinary Health Sciences campus on Monday afternoon.

On the concluding day of the Sarkar Aapke Dwar campaign the Cabinet decided to constitute Rajasthan State Highway Authority to strengthen the road network in the state. The camel was declared as the State Animal of Rajasthan and amendments in the Boilers Act, 1923 were approved in order to encourage industrial investment environment for better employment opportunities for the young population.

The State Cabinet decided to form the road authority to improve the road network in next five years. In all, about 20,000 kilometer long state and district-level roads would be developed on the lines of Megahighway and East-West Mega Highway Corridor too would be constructed. For rest of the one lakh kilometer long roads in the rural and other regions would be maintained through contact. For this, competitive bids would be invited as per draft proposals of the Government of India.

The Ship of the Desert, camel was declared the State Animal and new state rules would be framed to ensure its conservation and stop its killing, illegal transportation, displacement or smuggling.

The Cabinet also approved for tabling of the reports of the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) in the State Assembly.

On the local front, the state Cabinet decided to lift the ban on registration of lands in Pachpadara, Jasol region of Barmer where, the restrictions were imposed after announcement for establishment of the Oil Refinery at Pachpadara. Amendments were proposed for hike in the pension for the beneficiary family-members in the event of death of the government employees.

Other proposals cleared by the State Cabinet include:

Amendments in the Apprentice Act, 1961; amendments in sub-sections 2, 3, 5 of the section 7 of the Boilers Act, 1923; drafts of three bills for amendments in various Acts of related to industries and labour departments which were decided to be changed in the previous meeting of the Cabinet at Jaipur; renewal of the arms licenses; re-conducting the recruitment examinations for the Agriculture Supervisors which was cancelled after the reports of leak of question papers.
