Centre will assist in upgrading Medical & Health services in Rajasthan

Jaipur, July 3. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has asked the Centre to provide special central assistance to Rajasthan under ‘National Rural Health Mission’ keeping in view peculiar geographical conditions of the State.

During her meeting with Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Thursday at Nirman Bhawan in New Delhi, Smt. Raje said the state needs central assistance for the expansion of health care services in the desert & hilly regions, villages and dhanis of the remote tribal area.

Smt. Raje was thankful to Dr Harsh Vardhan for the MoU with the Govt. of India to open five new medical colleges in the state. She urged the Union Health Minister to provide necessary help to start admissions for the year 2014-15 in these new medical colleges. She also asked for support from the centre to check seasonal diseases and to strengthen medical & health services.

The Union Health Minister while agreeing with the issues raised by the Smt. Raje, said his Ministry will send and high level team to study peculiar conditions of the state. This team will provide suggestions regarding strengthening of medical and health care services. He himself would visit the state to get information about the upgradation of medical and health services, he said.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan said it was not possible for the state government alone to face the challenge of developing health care services in remote tribal and desert regions. He assured that the centre will provide all possible help in upgrading medical & health services in the state.
