Bikaner, June 22. The Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj has talked to the Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje over telephone on Sunday to assure her that the Ministry was making all efforts for safe and speedy release of all Indians held hostage in Iraq.

Smt. Swaraj told the CM that early release of all Indian workers stranded in the troubled region would be done soon with the help of Indian Embassy in Iraq. For this, efforts had been reinforced. She explained that a major issue had erupted in Iraq regarding Indian workers because the employer companies had taken away their passports.

The Union Minister told Smt. Raje that some Indians were trapped in the warzone near Basara city and its surrounding regions. Efforts were being made to get them out safely.

It is notable that the Chief Minister had expressed concerns over security of the Indian workers in Iraq through a letter to Smt. Swaraj and had requested her for personal intervention to ensure speedy and safe return of the Indian hostages.
