Make Cleanliness A Public Movement

Jaipur, December 12. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has called upon the people of the state to make cleanliness a public movement by participating in the campaign of keeping their own households, streets and lanes, villages and town and the entire state hygienic and thus become the agents of change. She said that sanitation and cleanliness were important from the perspective of investment, tourism and development as well.

Smt. Raje was addressing two ceremonies organized separately at Hawa Mahal and Jantar-Mantar, on Friday, on the occasion of adoption of these historical places of archeological importance by Jaishree Pediwal Group of Schools and Delhi Public School, Jaipur respectively. She called the children as means of change and stated that everybody could realize the dream of ‘Swachch Rajasthan- Swachch Bharat’ by joining this campaign of our children.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took the initiative of connecting the target of national prosperity with cleanliness and called upon the people of the country to make entire India clean by the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. “Citizens too have taken this campaign positively and everybody has understood that nobody could progress without cleanliness,” she said.

Mentioning the children’s participation in the non-government organization ‘Parwah’ of Jaishree Pediwal Group of Schools, Smt. Raje said that this should become a medium of involving other schools of the city with this campaign for cleanliness. All schools should come together and make people aware in different municipal wards through street-plays and songs. She suggested for identifying 30 filthiest wards in the city and recommended for children’s awareness campaign about hygienic living in these places. She also requested the media to be part of the campaign by spreading the message given by the children through their presentations.

The Chief Minister was impressed by the street-play and theme song of the campaign “Swachch Jaipur ka iraada kar liya hamne…. Desh se yeh wada kar liya hamne…” performed by the students of Step By Step School at Hawa Mahal. She appreciated the lyrics, composition and musical beat of the song. When this song was preformed, everybody present on the occasion was mincing. The CM then asked the children to repeat the performance.

At Jantar-Mantar Smt. Raje said that the people of Rajasthan were proud of their heritage and historical monuments. “Regular up-keeping and better presentation of these places is duty of all of us,” she said. She reiterated that the two city schools have pronounced to keep these two monuments clean and sanitized for one year. Other schools should also take inspiration and come forward to adopt this concept so that the cleanliness campaign could become a success in the entire state. Students of these schools pledged before the CM to keep these historical places clean and sparkling.

During her visit, of the UNESCO World Heritage site the Chief Minister also saw a presentation on various equipments like Samrat Yantra, Jaiprakash Yantra, Rashi Valay Yantra and Ram Yantra etc. installed at Jantar-Mantar, their functioning and calculations. At Hawa Mahal, she paid visit to Gowardhannathji Temple as well.

City mayor Shri Nirmal Nahta, MLAs Shri Ashok Parnami, Shri Surendra Pareek and Shri Mohanlal Gupta, Principal Secretary Tourism Shri Shailendra Agarwal, Pro-Vice Chairman of DPS International Smt. Devyani Jaipuria and Principal Seema Bhatnagar, Director of Step By Step School Smt. Jaishree Pediwal, municipal councilors, public representatives and dignitaries were also present during these events.
