Tourism should be axis of development- Chief Minister

Jaipur, 28 October. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has reiterated the significance of tourism as the axis of development for Rajasthan. The state government is focusing on basic needs like infrastructural development, education, health etc to revolve around tourism. This would take the state forward to the new heights on a greater pace.

Smt. Raje was addressing a presentation meeting at the CMO on Tuesday to explore possibilities for tourism development in the state by the representatives of a firm Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (ILFS). She said that tourism was the key to advancement of the state. Although, for this proper planning was required to be done in the right direction. Chief Minister underlined the need of connecting tourism with rural living traditions, folk arts and handicrafts etc. that fortifies tourism and generate employment opportunities for the local youth.

The CM further stated that better residential and other basic facilities were needed to be created in villages for the tourists to stay, experience and enjoy the rural life in its native form.

The presentation by the ILFS impressed upon the need of creation of a detailed database of spots of tourists’ attraction, natural habitats, festivals and fairs, lifestyle, art and culture etc of various districts of Rajasthan. Such database could provide unlimited opportunities to attract tourists to Rajasthan. Analysis of this data and planning on the same would make way simpler for tourism development. Taking cue from the data collected in Barmer district, the team of expert analysts of ILFS argued that use of Information Technology for promotion of tourism would get Rajasthan its real place on the world tourism map.

Mehra, Principal Secretary Tourism Shri Shailendra Kumar Agarwal, Secretary Planning Shri Akhil Arora, Director Tourism Shri Vikram Singh, Managing Director of ILFS Shri Hari Shankaran, Shri Ravi Parthasarathi and other representatives were present on this occasion.
