Government At Your Doorstep In Kota From August 24 Ordinance For Uniformity In Elections Of Cooperatives Approved

Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje chaired a meeting of the State Cabinet at the CMO on Tuesday. Draft of the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Ordinance 2015, which aimed at uniformity in the elections of these societies, was approved in this meeting. Other decisions include, launch of Sarkar Aapke Dwar (Government at Your Doorstep) campaign in Kota Division from August 24 onwards and free distribution of sanitary napkins to about 20 lakh adolescent girls in the state.

The State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Rajendra Rathore told the media-persons that the Cabinet decided to modify the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies Act, 2001 by amending its sections 27, 30 and 32 and inserting one section 30-C. These amendments would result into time-bound elections of about 33,000 cooperative societies in the state at one time, he said.

Presently, the Minister said, in the situation of appointing an Administrator on expiry of term of office of the executive board of a society, there was a provision of opportunity for hearing. Now, necessary amendment would be made for appointment of Administrator on expiry of term of office. Also, if an executive board was expelled before it completed half its tenure, elections would be held for the rest of the term only. On the event of the board demitting office after the half-time mark in terms of its tenure, next elections would be conducted by the State Cooperatives Electoral Authority with other societies, he added.

Shri Rathore said that the Cabinet decided to organize this year’s state-level Independence Day Function at Kota and launch the Government at Your Doorstep campaign in Kota Division between August 24 and August 31. On August 24, members of the Council of Ministers led by the Chief Minister would gather at Kota and a meeting of the State Cabinet would be held on August 31. Status and action taken in regard to the memoranda, complaints and applications received during the campaign events in Bharatpur, Bikaner and Udaipur divisions would be reviewed at the CM and the Ministers’ level.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister informed that the Cabinet also approved for free distribution of sanitary napkins to about 20 lakh girls in the age group 13-19 years studying in class 6 to 12 under Rajasthan Kishori Swasthay Evum Swachhata Karyakram. This would include girls of the BPL families as well. For implementation of this programme, a group of the Ministers and Principal Secretaries of various departments including Medical and Health, Women and Child Development, Education, Social Justice and Empowerment and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj had been formed.
