Skill and livelihoods development on top priority in Rajasthan: CM

Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that the state Government is sincerely working for the overall development of Rajasthan and skill & livelihoods development is on our top priority.

Smt. Raje was addressing the workshop on ‘Skill Development and Employment‘ organized in New Delhi by World Economic Forum on Thursday. She said during her last term she had taken up a big programme for skill development and livelihood. Efforts are being made to implement skill development programme this time also on a big scale. We have set a target to provide employment to 15 lakh youth in various sectors, she said.

The Chief Minister said for the overall development of the state it is necessary that our youth become self-sufficient and display their skills on national and international level. She said possibilities of investment increase with the development in sectors like agriculture, industry, education, health, infrastructure, electricity, water and road. New avenues of employment will open for the youth after enhancement of their skills. It will also pave way for the development of the state and will turn in manifold increase in investment, she said.

Smt. Raje said if our youth is not skilled, the people from other states will take advantage of the opportunities available here. We have to connect our youth with various skill and livelihoods development programmes, she said. As the World Economic Forum is taking interest in Rajasthan it will help us to move ahead rapidly in this direction, she added.

Union Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu and Chairman of National Skill Development Agency Shri S Ramadurai was also present in the programme.

Kota Selected for Skill Development Project:

During the workshop the World Economic Forum decided to select Kota for the first pilot project for skill development in youth in India. The World Economic Forum, Railway Ministry and Rajasthan Government will collectively work on this project.

CMD of Rajasthan Skills and Livelihoods Development Corporation Shri Gaurav Goyal said selection of Kota for the pilot project will open new avenues for Skill and Livelihoods Development among the youth of Rajasthan through World Economic Forum and other institutions associated with it.
