Jaipur, January 23. Aiming to see Rajasthan in top 10 states of the country in education during next one year, Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has called upon the teachers to work with full commitment and devotion to provide quality teaching. She suggested them to focus on job-oriented education with special attention to girl education.

Smt. Raje was addressing a workshop on school education organized by Education Sub-group of the Chief Minister’s Advisory Council at the CMO on Friday. She quoted the ASER Report to note that presently Rajasthan figured at 21st position in the country and suggested to take this situation as a challenge and design short-term and long-term goals to improve upon the state of affairs.

The CM said that the state government had started working on the plans suggested by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to set-up model schools in Rajasthan which would provide best quality education in different subjects of arts, science and computer streams along with facilities for sports. She said that the children should be given such education that they remain acquainted with the Indian culture as well be prepared for global competition.

Smt. Raje suggested the teachers to question themselves why the private schools had better results in comparison to the government schools. The state government was ready to extend all possible help to the educators and educationists for ensuring improvement in quality of education, she said. She emphasized on capacity building of the teachers and suggested them to remain update with new innovations in their field.

Expressing concerns over the state of affairs in schools, which she witnessed during Sarkar Aapke Dwar (Government at Your Doorstep) campaign visits in rural areas, the CM said that she found children not being able to read or learn tables. She appealed the officials attending the workshop take responsibility of getting rid of this situation. She emphasized to include moral education, sanitation and hygiene, sports activities and yoga in the school curriculums.

Smt. Raje recalled her aim to offer employment opportunities to 15 lakh youth and suggested the educators to include job-oriented courses and subjects full-filling the present day needs.

Minister of State for Education Prof. Vasudeo Devnani said that the government was committed to update school education so that the children could be taught curriculums and courses updated with modern techniques and knowledge of changes taking place globally. He vowed to ensure quality education through effective monitoring of schools and its teachers.

During the workshop, four groups discussed different issues related to improvement in school education; development of model schools; vocational education and skill development; and opportunities of public-private-partnership in school education and gave presentations. Chief Secretary Shri CS Rajan gave the vote of thanks to the participants.

Urvashi Sahni, Shri Kartik Muralidharan, Principal Secretary Education Shri Pawan Kumar Goyal, Principal Secretary Finance Shri PS Mehra, Secretary Education Shri Nareshpal Gangwar, Secretary Labour Shri Rajat Mishra, Secretary Planning Shri Akhil Arora, Secretary Higher Education Shri Ashwini Bhagat, Managing Director of RSLDC Shri Gaurav Goyal, representatives from various educational institutes, educationists and department officials were present in the workshop.
