Rajasthan Bovine Animal Act To Be Amended
The State Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje decided to amend the Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act-1995. The weekly meeting of the Cabinet was held at the Chief Minister Office on Tuesday.
Briefing the mediapersons after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Rajendra Rathore said that the Act of 1995 provided for prohibition of illegal transportation or migration of bovine animals like cow, calves etc. for slaughtering. Presently, this Act had no provision for seizure of vehicles used for illegal export of animals, he said further clarifying that in practice such vehicles were being impounded under Section 69 of the Excise Act-1950. Now, the Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act-1995 would be amended to this effect by inserting a new Section 6(A) into it, he said.
Shri Rathore further said that in the present Act there was no provision of arrest of the person committing such crime. Thus, another amendment would be made by inserting a new Section 12(A) in the Act to make it more effective so that the persons committing a crime under this Act could be arrested, he said. For this, a bill would be tabled in the ensuing Assembly Session. Once the Act was amended in the Assembly, it would be sent to the President of India for consent, he added.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister told the reporters that September 25 would be a Holiday on account of Eid. News of cancellation of the Holiday on this date was being circulated erroneously. Shri Rathore said that mega blood donation camp was being organized on the occasion of birth anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay in which volunteers would donate blood.
