Jaipur Becomes First Lighthouse City of India
Global Centre of Excellence powered by Genpact and Cisco Inaugurated
Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said, “Rajasthan is the best equipped state when it comes to embracing the Digital Economy. Rajasthan stands out for making Digital India a reality”.
She was addressing at the inauguration of the Global Centre of Excellence here at Genpact Building on Monday. During this, Mr. John Chambers, Executive Chairman, Cisco and Mr. NV Tiger Tyagarajan, CEO of Genpact were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Smt. Raje addressed award winning youngsters whose Citizen Centric Apps won prizes, said,
“Get yourselves skilled, since the skill set shall be your only ticket to the future and it is imperative that in order to be relevant, you keep improving, keep learning and keep innovating”.
Chief Minister Raje congratulated both Cisco and Genpact on their efforts and said “Application of advanced digital technology will benefit Jaipur in its efforts in economic and social progress through an enhanced citizen experience. This partnership will significantly help Jaipur to become a city of the future”.
Shri John Chambers, Executive Chairman of CISCO said “Government leaders today increasingly recognize the importance of digitization as the foundation for economic growth, job creation and the development of a knowledgeable workforce. Our commitment with the Cisco Lighthouse initiative in Jaipur is to help the state develop an ecosystem of talent, entrepreneurship and innovation to drive growth, generate jobs, diversify the economy and support sustainable growth. He admired Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje for her strong vision to digitize Rajasthan, and said CISCO was honored to collaborate with the state to help realize its vision of ‘Digital Rajasthan.”
Mr. Tyagarajan, CEO Genpact reiterated GENPACT’s commitment to Rajasthan and briefed the audience about the company’s expansion plans that included the upcoming centre in Sitapura which is likely to be operational this year and create 1000 local jobs. “We believe this collaboration will have a resounding ripple effect on a global scale by demonstrating how collaborative innovation can result in making a large city like Jaipur truly smart and connected,” he added.
Rajasthan has been continuously on the forefront of innovations and applications in the digital space and has received numerous accolades from various quarters including MEITY. Jaipur has surged ahead by virtue of its innovative partnerships with Genpact and Cisco. Jaipur is the only ‘Cisco Lighthouse City’ in South Asia and a member of an elite club of cities along with Adelaide (Australia), Barcelona (Spain), Hamburg (Germany), Stockholm (Sweden) and Dubai (UAE).
With the opening of this Centre, the prototypes for Genpact’s Smart City Applications were unveiled for deployment in Jaipur. The initial pilots include applications for real time identification of vacant parking slot, traffic forecasting for optimization of promotional events, visitor pattern identification for public campaign efficacy and security and real time way finding and tourist recommendation.
Genpact will leverage robotic process automation, machine learning, advanced visualization, dynamic workflows, digital security, mobility, Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics, and other disruptive technologies, to create applications that will be integrated into the operations and future economic development of the city. The Center leverages Genpact’s Lean Digital approach that harnesses the combined power of process – centric technologies, design thinking methodologies, and domain expertise.
The event was also attended by Sh. Dinesh Malkani, President, Cisco India & SAARC, Mr. Puneet Gupta, MD, Cisco India and other officers of the state government.
