Ever since taking over the reins of power, the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan has taken several measures to fulfill its promise of ‘minimum government and maximum governance’. Reforms and attention to re-engineering of processes have been the hallmark of this government. It has gone ahead with innovations that aim at enduring partnerships as catalysts of growth and employment. At the same time, positive discrimination in favour of the disadvantaged has been one of the ‘Mantras’ of this government. In a bid to bring to fruition the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the State Government has been ceaselessly working to bring about a sea change in the policy framework so that the environment is enabling for businesses and employment and social security initiatives become more effective.

Rajasthan conjures up images of a land of forts and palaces, colours and flavours, architectures and wildscapes. Cultural heritage of Rajasthan defines India before the world and the state is renowned for its hospitality and touristic attractions.

Even before being voted into power, the leadership travelled far and wide over the state, constantly interacting with the people at large in order to get the pulse of the development requirements, peoples’ aspirations and governance challenges. The experience gather during this ‘Suraj Sankalp Yatra’ was articulated in form of election manifesto, which later went on to being adopted as an official document. Today, the State Government is working towards living upto the promise and assurances given in the manifesto.

In the last one year, the State Government has repeatedly travelled to the people even in the remote interiors and heard their grievances on the spot. This was hitherto unheard of in Rajasthan. This ‘Sarkar Aap Ke Dwar’ exercise was a conscious effort on the part of ruling dispensation to keep their roots firmly entrenched among the marginal and disadvantage rural populations spread far and wide.

The state government is of the view that use of information technology is an important ingredient in bringing about transparency in the government- citizens interface. A separate portal for public grievance redressal ‘Rajasthan Sampark’ has been developed. GIS tools for spatial planning are being developed. As on date, 106 citizen services are available had e-mitra kiosks.
