MoU signed with New India Assurance Company for Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme

4.5 crore people to get benefit of cashless treatment in private hospitals

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed for the ambitious Bhamashah Swasththya Bima Yojana ( Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme) between Medical & Health Department of Rajasthan and the New India Assurance Company in the presence of Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje here at Chief Minister’s office on Thursday.

Smt. Raje said Rajasthan is the third state to start Swasthya Bima Yojana (Health Insurance Scheme) after Maharashtra and Tamilnadu. More than 4.5 crore people of the state will get benefit of the quality cashless health care facilities through private and public health care providers under the scheme, she said.

The Chief Minister said after this initiative of the state government poor and needy people will get opportunity of having treatment in those private hospitals which were out of their reach. She said the scheme to be implemented in the month of December will ascertain that the people of the state get benefits related to healthcare facilities which are not being provided in states like Maharashtra and Tamilnadu under the health insurance scheme.

The Chief Minister said our goal is to improve access of all citizens to quality medical & health care and the enactment of the Swasthya Bima Yojana in the state will create more possibilities of opening of quality private hospitals in rural areas and it will also reduce the pressure on government hospitals. The scheme will help in preparing of health database and this database will help in taking policy decisions related to medical & health sector.

Smt. Raje appealed to the doctors to follow Hippocratic Oath in its real meaning and help the state government to provide better health care facilities to people. She said e-health cards will be issued under Arogya Rajasthan Campaign and this card will help in providing quick and effective healthcare facilities, she said.

Smt. Raje released the brochure and booklet related to Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana on this occasion.

Medical & Health Minister Shri Rajendra Rathore said this Health Insurance Scheme covers 1718 ailments which are highest in the country. He said highest insurance cover is being provided under the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana in comparison with other states. The insurance cover for general illness has been set as Rs. 30,000 while Rs. 3 lakh has been set for critical illness. The insurance cover for critical illness is Rs. 1.5 lakh in Tamilnadu and Rs. 2.5 lakh in Maharashtra, he said. The administrative cost for this scheme is also less in our state in comparison with other states, he added.

CMD of New India Assurance Company Shri G. Srinivasan said the Swasthya Bima Yojana being implemented in Rajasthan is the best in the country and the credit for it goes to Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje’s visionary thinking.

Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Shri Mukesh Sharma gave detailed presentation about the Swasthya Bima Yojana. Additional Mission Director, National Health Mission Shri Neeraj K. Pawan and CMD of New India Assurance Company Shri G. Srinivasan signed the MoU.

Home Minister Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, other members of the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary Shri C. S. Rajan, senior officials of the state government and representatives of New India Assurance Company were present on this occasion.
