Increase People’s Participation for Effective Wildlife Conservation
Meeting of State Wildlife Board
Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje applauded the efforts being made by the State Wild Life Board for the conservation of forest and wild life. She said activities regarding forest and wild life conservation should be augmented with cooperation from the people living in eco-development zone. She also laid emphasis on efforts to be made to provide education and provide livelihood opportunities to the local people.
Smt. Raje was chairing the meeting of the State Wildlife Board here at Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday. She had all praise for the initiatives taken and efforts being made to promote eco-tourism at Ranthambhor National Park, Jhalana Sanctuary and Balla Killa situated at the buffer zone of Sariska. She said abundant possibilities of developing eco-tourism facilities are available at Barmer, Jalore, Dholpur and Hanumangarh. She asked the Board to find out possibilities and start work on project mode.
The Chief Minister applauded the initiatives like full-day and half-day safari, instant booking facility, exit ticket and making ID necessary and training for guides and drivers. The officials informed that the vehicles used for safari at Ranthambhor will be connected with GPS system. She also praised the efforts being made to protect the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary from the menace of Catfish.
It was informed in the meeting that the relocation package for the people living in the protected area is being made better so that they can live better life and become self-reliant. The Chief Minister directed that the report presented regarding expansion of Taal Chhaper sanctuary to Jaswantgarh in Nagaur be implemented. She directed Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment to take immediate action on the proposal to solve the problems of people living in Desert National Park.
In-principal approval was given to the Fuelwood Free Village scheme to provide 40,000 gas connections on 100 percent subsidy to the people residing near tiger reserves. Under the scheme when all families will get gas connection the village will be declared fuelwood fee. The members of State Wildlife Board told Chief Minister that tourists were happy with the facilities provided at Tiger Reserve and Sanctuaries.
The Chief Minister while applauding the efforts being made directed that people’s participation must be ensured to make wildlife conservation activities more effective. She directed that proper coordination should be made among departments for effective implementation of wildlife conservation programmes.
The Board also gave approval to the proposal related to rejuvenation of Amanishah Nallah. The 5 kilometer stretch of the Amanishah Nallah falls in protected forest and sanctuaries. Now the project will get pace after the approval.
The following proposals were given approval in the meeting:-
- Underground electric transmission line for Wax Statue Museum at Nahargarh Fort
- Widening of existing State Highway-30, Sawai Madhopur to Shivpuri road
- Laying OFC line along State highway 30 from Sawai Madhopur to Bodal in RTR
- Laying OFC cable line along the State highway road passing through Reserve Forest block Jheelwara & Desuri inside Kumbhalgarh sanctuary
- Laying OFC cable line along the NH 8 passing through Reserve Forest block Chappli outside Todgarh Raoli sanctuary and inside the sanctuary
- Laying of underground steel pipeline for transportation of Naphtha from Jaipur to Panipat.
- Rejuvenation of Amanishah Nallah
- Construction of Salgaon Dam at Mt. Abu (Change of a conditon)
- Expansion in existing Mines and Installation of New Power Plant by Mangalam Cement at Village Modak Tehsil Ramganjmandi, District Kota
- Laying natural gas pipeline from CAIRN’S Barmer to village Sevtalav, Pali in Rajasthan Rageshwari terminal
- Repair work on state highway 55 from Gudha Village to Jaipur via Jaihiari, Andhi Jamwaramgarh
- Industrial Unit for manufacturing of TMT Bars and Wire Rod in village Mandana, Ladpura Kota.
Minister of State for Forest and Environment Shri Rajkumar Rinva, MLAs, Chief Secretary, ACS (Forest & Environment), ACS (Social Justice & Empowerment), Members of the Wild Life Board and other senior officers of Forest Department were present in the meeting.
