Rajasthan Has Become A Model In Education Sector
State Level Teachers’ Felicitation Ceremony
Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara has said that the state government has started several innovations for increasing quality of education in Rajasthan, which have been commended at national level. For the first time, enrolement in the state schools increased by record margin of 15 lakh students. In education sector, Rajasthan had become a model for several other states, she said.
On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Monday, Smt. Raje was addressing the State-level Teachers’ Felicitation Ceremony at Birla Auditorium. She said that government schools had outperformed the private ones in examination results. All which could not be done in past 60 years in education, had been done in last two years, she said.
The CM said that 5,000 secondary schools had been upgraded to senior secondary schools. Now, at panchayat level 9,895 Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools were providing education from class 1 to 12. Also, another 9,610 Utkrisht schools were providing education to classes 1 to 8. Rajasthan is the first state on the country to rationalize and upgrade schools at this large number.
Smt. Raje said that the state government had established Swami Vivekanand Government Model Schools in the educationally backward panchayat samitis. These schools working on CBSE pattern were having good labs, classrooms and sports grounds. Students were being provided English medium schools, so that they would not lag behind in any competition. The CM cited the practice in London schools and said that the government schools should be where children of politicians, officers, junior employees and poor families under the same roof.
The Chief Minister said that all information related to schools and teachers had been made online through portals like Shala Darpan, Shala Darshan. She said that teaching and study material had been uploaded on e-Gyan portal. Along with Smart Classroom and Digital Learning Solution Rooms, ICT labs had been established in 7,000 schools. In about 2,000 schools satellite classes were being conducted for subjects like Mathematics, Science and English.
Smt. Raje said that vocational education programmes have been launched in 600 schools on the theme of Skill India. Also, 38,000 teachers had been trained under the State Initiative for Quality Education. She said that Sharade Girls Hostels had been constructed to facilitate housing facility for girls enrolled for higher education. Also, 28 girls were being provided free housing, education, food and daily provisions. Also, Mukhyamantri Hamari Betiyan, Apni Beti and Rajshri Yojna schemes were being operated in the state.
The CM said that recently 4 lakh teachers and employees of the Education Department were transfered through counselling. Also, record 83,000 teachers had been promoted, along with creation of 5,000 news posts of principals. She said that following this, 60% vacancies of teachers had been reduced to 25%. Due to new staffing pattern teachers had been made available to schools in interior regions as well. As a result of these reforms, class 10 pass percentage had improved from 66% to 73% and that of class 12 from 78% to 88%.
During the event, Smt. Raje honoured 41 teachers from various schools in the state for their excellent services with shawl, commendation certificates and cheques. She also inaugurated an exhibition of the education department and administered oath for Saving Girl Child. Minister of State for Education Shri Vasudev Devnani also addressed the gathering of teachers.
Higher Education Minister Shri Kalicharan Saraf, Chairperson of State Secondary Education Board, Chief Secretary Shri OP Meena, ACS Shri Rajhans Upadhyay, Education Secretary Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar, other public representatives, Members of Chief Minister Advisory Council, senior state officials, teachers and dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
